hey5

Know if your computer has virus : Find it, kill it.

Virus Removal

Virus, a common shuddery term doing no good to both humans and computers. Presence of virus and malwares within your computer might turn your computer into a stupid-box. It’s scary to know that your computer has virus and the real scary thing to know is that, these potential harmful codes can gain entrance to your computer from varied source and you can’t even pin-point it. Those ugly guys are like everywhere. Sadly, our loved internet is one major source of viruses and malwares. We will discuss about the possible hideouts of viruses in the later part of the discussion.

So how does it feels like, when you have unknowingly sheltered a virus or a malware in your computer?

Well, to be frank, things do turn ugly! The harm level can range anywhere from minor hiccups to even catastrophes. The behavior of each single virus or malware might vary from computer to computer. Some might cause replication of your files and folders and are so much determined that these won’t stop until your whole hard drive is swallowed. I personally hate those viruses and malwares the more, which messes with my important application files and corrupts those. The next time I double click on such application shortcuts, I get an error message informing that it’s unable to execute. I feel so devastated.
You must have witnessed the presence of a folder named “New Folder.exe”. It’s like immortal and telling me that ‘wherever you go, I follow’. No matter if you delete it, or format the drive where you found it, it regains its existence from nowhere. It’s of another type. The nettlesome type.
Few of other types can even mess up with your email accounts and try spamming your email contacts. I would say, ‘Just look at its audacity!’
These were the various activities performed by viruses. Next comes, how your computer behaves?  Well again, there can be various symptoms your computer can indicate. The most common one according to me would be a turtle computer. Yes, a slow, perhaps a very slow response to every program instantiated within your computer might be an indication of virus being present. Occasional hangs, sudden shutdowns, application crash, system crash missing files error, regeneration of deleted files, irrepressible replication of files etc. all denotes the presence of malicious programs within your computer. If you possess any updated antivirus program, then you can get a virus alert from these programs too. That’s the easiest way to know if your computer is under attack or not but provided your antivirus works.

Okay, that’s quite terrorizing. Tell me about their sources.

Viruses and malwares can land upon your computer literally from anywhere. Out of all, the internet is one huge store house of viruses and such malicious programs. Various malicious codes can be injected within the websites you daily browse and in a flash these codes can enter your computer without your slightest knowledge. Various popping ads or tempting web-links can actually greet you with viruses and malwares once you click on them. Certain sites which provide downloading are also prone to viruses. You might be downloading your desired file plus a virus too! Even mails with malicious attachments from unknown senders can download viruses and malwares within your computer when you click on it. Other means of virus can be flash drives from your friends. You might never know if that external drive is bearing some sort of virus and malware or not.

Oh No! I feel so vulnerable. How do I remove those, actually kill those?

As prevention swears that it’s better than cure, I think that’s right. Try developing good computer usage techniques.Keep a copy of a good, tested malware blocker program and a working updated version of an antivirus application installed within your computer. Make sure you have a genuine version of your operating system with important updates turned ON. Certain updates within the OS version also fixes some security holes and strengthens and immune the OS to fight bravely against viruses and malwares. Remember to keep your anti-virus program updated as an outdated one may also turn your computer sluggish like that of a virus. Some virus codes are so smartly written that these can even bypass an antivirus scan! Some can even disallow you from downloading antivirus programs from websites. If that’s the case, you can download it or borrow it from someone and copy it in your system and install it. Always perform a whole computer scan after regular intervals.
After each successful deletion of viruses per scan, make sure to reboot your computer and perform the same scan again. According to the previous result, this time your antivirus scan result should come clean. If it comes clean, then you can keep that antivirus or else you need to look for some more efficient antivirus program.

Now what if you can’t even initiate your antivirus program?

For that you need to start your computer in ‘Safe Mode’ to handle only the core OS elements and look for the ‘registry’ folder. This folder has all your important OS files which commands the OS and other files what to do and when. So now when you run your antivirus program in safe mode, you might be able to quarantine malwares and viruses. If you can’t delete any malware, make sure to note them down and search for a solution from the internet firm whose antivirus product you’re using. That’s because, the destination folders and location folders to look for references are different for each firms.
Start with keeping a backup of the whole registry folder in case you face any other issue or accidentally deleted any wrong file. After successful deletion of malwares and viruses, make sure to delete all its associated files and most importantly change all your online account credentials as these malwares are fond of your important documents and even can record your keystrokes.
So considering all the above facts and procedures, certainly you have gained an elaborate knowledge about viruses and malwares and how to get rid of those. So practice healthy computing habits and stay away from viruses and malwares.
